Seriously, I have dress and hiking socks from Darn Tough.
They wash very well. Keep their size and shape.
Yes you pay more, but they perform well over their life.

These are comfortable form fitting socks; not too thick yet thicker than many socks. It is a medium weight sock which feels warm and comfortable to wear. I have the black colored ones. They have not got too hot and my feet have stayed warm. These are described as “All Weather Socks” which can be worn year round. I like them.
I know, you see wool and you think “warm, great for cold weather, but not for summer” right? Well, yes, you’re partly right. Mool is actually cooler in summer than cotton or even synthetics as it breaths and wicks better than either. And,it doesn’t get the “funk” that synthetics often do.
